20 Questions

Well your questions have been sent. Following is the letter to your Council and potential council persons.

Dear.....

I and the Citizens of Sierra Madre would like to ask you few questions; you might call it an on-line interview of sorts. The same questions have been sent to all candidates running with a few additional questions for the non-incumbents.

Your responses will be published in their entirety on both the CF Blog, a local on-line news source covering the foothill cities, and the local Sierra Madre Blog, A View from the Canyon.

These questions were sent in by the Citizens of Sierra Madre, your constituents. They feel strongly that they need to know a bit more about you.

I hope that you will respond to the questions, and of course add any comments that you feel are newsworthy. I would like to receive your responses back by Monday February 25th. I would appreciate that you let me know if you do not intend to respond to the questions, so I do not hold up publication pending your responses.

Questions are outlined below: Please e-mail me if you have any questions on the process.

We would like to know more about your qualifications of for city council.

1. Have you served on any committees?

2. What type of volunteer work can you be credited with in the city?

3. Have you served on any of the commissions?

4. What do you do for a living, and how does that experience relate to running a City?

5. Do you have the ability to work for the citizens of Sierra Madre without a partisan agenda?

6. What special talents or abilities does you bring to the table?

7. What is the definition of a Family, and how do you intend to use it.?

8. I'd like to know how all the candidates are going to approach the budget if the UUT fails.

9. Are you willing to work to find ways to continue funding of services such as parks and recreation, senior services, and library services. Do you fully support these services?

10. What is your understanding of funding mechanisms for city services? Have you thought of ways to ensure that wages are adequate for all city employees?

11. Would you consider yourself to be a city councilperson for everyone, bearing in mind that we all have vested interests in the town, even if we are politically opposed on some issues.

12. I would like to ask the Council candidates is: will they, or why wouldn't they seek new bids and proposals from Arcadia PD, Pasadena PD and the County as a comparison against present services and the quality of services?

13. How do you intend to approach the now stagnant projects in the downtown, when will the boarded up buildings become revenue generating tax paying businesses?

Actually there are only 13 questions here, 91024. Not 20.

Interesting math. Do you do budgets for Enid and John?

When I was growing up, we used to play a game called "20 questions." We rarely made it to "20" before we guessed right. So, are we supposed to rename the game afterwards?

Don't take this so literally, mikey. Chill out, let the candidates answer the questions.

Sarge. It's a joke, boy. Try tying your shoes or something.

But let me ask you a question. Since 91024 has seen fit to call the 2 challengers derogatory names on The Foothill Blog (something that both have been made aware of, btw), do you honestly think they'll want to play this "game?"

Sgt. Saunders said...

Probably not!

BTW. You all have called the other candidates name afer name after name and accused them of everything under the sun. What difference does it make, as long as the responses are printed in their entirety. Then we can ALL have an opinion.

Just as an observation and not a criticism of your questions, there seems to be a strong concern for city employees benefit.

Is the object to get someone in that will take up their cause and woes, desires and dreams? What about the ordinary people without an inside track?

It's extraordinary that the fire department is all VOLUNTEER.

The city should consider these things when adding buildings at the edge of chaparral.

Here's a question:

Does Karma Bell get $21,000 a year for being city clerk if she gets the office... or was that just Nancy's payoff from Kurt for rigging the Measure V election?

Not if you live here. I've got Arcadia Fire on my speed dial. I don't want a insurance salesman, plumber or whatever who moonlights as a firefighter protecting my family.

It's a concept that ought to be done away with. Cute, but extremely dangerous.

A couple years ago, the SMFD had a brochure that was lampooned by Fire Departments because it had a picture that demonstrated the wrong actions.

Sorry, but many of us have respect for the effort, but if you required surgery, would you want a construction worker who dabbled in surgery?

why the question about the definition of a "family" - sounds like another liberal agenda of a hippy.

glad we have enough republicans and christians in the city to put down the pro gay agenda of 90124.

# 5. If John B. answers "yes" he sort of a liar. He's already done that. Same with Enid.

I have to laugh at the so-called conservatives and christians who wrap themselves in the flag and hide behind the Bible as a shield to spout their own personal brand of bigotry that is unpatriotic, unconstitutionals, and unChristian. What a sham they have foisted on this country.

I would agree that the definition of "family" has nothing to do with SM issues - precisely the point.
